Transportation Committee (13 members)

I. Initiative Function

  1. Within the framework of the discussed materials, the committee contributes to ensuring that long-term transport plans are aligned with the Land Use Plan of the City of Ostrava and assists in its gradual implementation.
  2. It participates in the preparation and discussion of the draft budget of the Statutory City of Ostrava for the transport sector.
  3. It initiates the preparation of and discusses proposals for traffic engineering documentation addressing issues of transport and the construction of road infrastructure.
  4. It monitors the preparation and implementation of investment projects in the field of transport, the scope and provision of maintenance of the city’s road network, and proposes measures to improve its condition.
  5. It discusses proposals for the efficient organization and development of road management within the city’s territory.
  6. Within the materials under discussion, it promotes compliance with and implementation of the principles of road traffic safety and smooth traffic flow on the city’s road network and supports the development of an intelligent transport system.
  7. It discusses the organizational arrangements for winter maintenance of roads, the provision of public transport operations in the city, participates in their supervision, and recommends measures to remedy identified shortcomings.
  8. It submits proposals and suggestions for improving transport, including transport systems within the city.
  9. It discusses concepts and development proposals for the Integrated Transport System of the Moravian-Silesian Region (ODIS) as well as the level of provision of transport services.

II. Supervisory Function

  1. Within the scope defined by the City Council.

III. Organizational Matters

Organizational, technical, and administrative work related to the activities of the committee is ensured by the Transport Department of the City Hall.
