Committee for Education, Science and Research (13 members)
I. Initiative Function
- initiates awareness-raising, educational, and training activities in the field of schools and educational institutions,
- initiates the introduction of new teaching methods,
- initiates international cooperation of schools and educational institutions,
- initiates activities in the field of science and research.
II. Advisory Function
- provides opinions on current developments in education and lifelong learning,
- proposes ways to coordinate the activities of schools, educational, and training institutions,
- in cooperation with school founders, actively participates in the preparation of key conceptual materials of the city in the field of education,
- reviews principles of programs for providing targeted grants and contributions in the areas of lifelong learning for children and youth, science, and research,
- reviews and submits to the City Council proposals for the allocation of financial resources from the Statutory City of Ostrava budget for lifelong learning for children and youth, science, and research.
III. Supervisory Function
- monitors events co-financed by the city through targeted grants and contributions in the areas of lifelong learning, science, and research,
- initiates control measures regarding the efficiency of funds spent from the budget of the Statutory City of Ostrava.
IV. Organizational Matters
Organizational, technical, and administrative tasks related to the committee’s activities are ensured by the City Hall’s Department of Culture and Education.
