City assembly

The City Assembly has 55 members and is elected by citizens for a four-year period. The tasks of the Assembly include the approval of the City Development Programme, the management of the City’s assets and property, the approval of key decisions affecting property management, the approval of the City’s budget and final accounts, the issuing of general directives, the election, constitution and institution of City bodies, the management of the City Police Force, and the conferral of honorary citizenship and City awards. In line with its standing orders, the City Assembly meets once a month on a regular basis, and its sessions are open to the public.
