Culture Committee (15 members)

I. Initiative Function

  1. acts as an initiator and co-author of conceptual materials in the field of culture and, within its capacities, participates in their implementation
  2. reviews applications and adopts positions on requests submitted by natural and legal persons for grants supporting activities in the field of culture, which are subsequently submitted to the City Council
  3. submits proposals concerning the activities of the city’s cultural institutions and events organized by the city
  4. presents new initiative proposals during the preparation of the budget of the Statutory City of Ostrava for cultural organizations established by the Statutory City of Ostrava,
  5. reviews and comments on proposals of key documents prepared by the Department of Culture and Education intended for discussion by the City Council
  6. submits initiative proposals to the City Council concerning the cultural life of the city

II. Supervisory Function

  1. within the scope determined by the City Council,
  2. participation in the evaluation of the activities and financial management of contributory organizations in the field of culture established by the Statutory City of Ostrava,
  3. participation in events that have been supported by a grant, contribution, or transfer from the Statutory City of Ostrava in the field of culture

III. Organizational Matters

Organizational, technical, and administrative tasks related to the activities of the committee are ensured by the Department of Culture and Education of the City Hall.
