Social Affairs, Health and Equal Opportunities Committee (13 members)

I. Initiative Function

prepares opinions on materials for City Council meetings in assigned areas and submits proposals for discussion to the City Council,
continuously monitors and evaluates issues in the fields of social care, healthcare, drug prevention, and crime prevention,
reviews the financial management of organizations established by the Statutory City of Ostrava and provides recommendations for their activities,
keeps up to date with new legislative standards and emerging trends in care, assistance, and prevention in the assigned areas, both domestically and internationally,
acts as an initiator and co-author of conceptual materials in the assigned areas,
reviews proposals for topics and principles for awarding targeted grants in the areas of social care, healthcare, support for persons with disabilities, drug prevention, and crime prevention,
recommends to the City Council proposals for providing targeted grants in social care, healthcare, support for persons with disabilities, drug prevention, and crime prevention,
committee members participate in working groups within the community social services planning process and related activities in the city of Ostrava.

II. Supervisory Function

within the scope determined by the City Council,
participates in the evaluation of the activities and financial management of organizations established by the Statutory City of Ostrava in the assigned areas,
monitors the use of targeted grants provided from the budget of the Statutory City of Ostrava in social care, healthcare, support for persons with disabilities, drug prevention, and crime prevention.

III. Organizational Matters

Organizational, technical, and administrative tasks related to the committee’s activities are ensured by the City Hall’s Department of Social Affairs and Healthcare.
