Sports Committee (13 members)

I. Initiative Function

  1. continuously monitors and evaluates issues in the field of physical education and sports activities,
  2. examines the status and needs of physical education and sports facilities in the city, and initiates protection of the existing potential of the city and its districts within non-profit organizations and institutions offering sports activities,
  3. initiates support for activities in the field of physical education and sports by
    1. providing suitable spaces and facilities owned by the city or city districts for physical education and sports activities,
    2. providing methodological support to entities, associations, and institutions operating in the field of physical education and sports,
    3. supporting selected activities or events organized by sports and physical education organizations,
    4. supporting selected sports and physical education events that represent the Statutory City of Ostrava, increas
    5. participation in these activities, and have citywide significance,
      supporting selected events that attract new participants for regular and continuous activity,
  4. reviews and submits to the City Council the rules for competitive procedures for awarding sports grants,
  5. reviews and submits to the City Council requests for financial support from the budget of the Statutory City of Ostrava in the field of sports,
  6. provides input on the city’s investment projects in the field of sports,
  7. provides opinions on nominations for the “Best Athlete of the Year of the City of Ostrava” award. 

II. Supervisory Function

  1. within the scope determined by the City Council,
  2. committee members attend individual events listed in the events schedule, monitor the course and program of the events, and report their findings and use of financial contributions at the next committee meeting.

III. Organizational Matters

Organizational, technical, and administrative tasks related to the activities of the committee are ensured by the City Hall’s Department of Sports.
