Department responsible for:

The Mayor’s Office Department ensures the fulfillment of all tasks related to the duties of the mayor, his deputies and the Secretary of the City Authority. It organizes all promotional and presentation activities of the statutory city of Ostrava, both within the city and the Czech Republic, as well as in the field of external relations and international cooperation.

It participates in the protocol arrangements for official visits, including those of foreign delegations. The city’s presentation also includes the publication of periodicals such as the monthly Radnice, Ostrava Metropolitan Magazine, as well as occasional prints and publications.

The Department currently provides information through the city’s website and social media; its responsibilities also include the activities of the press spokesperson. These activities are carried out by the Communication, Digital Media and Foreign Relations Section.

The Mayor’s Office Department also includes the Crisis Management Section, which ensures the performance of state administration in the preparation and implementation of measures for dealing with crisis situations that threaten lives, health, significant property values or the environment, as well as measures related to ensuring the defence and security of the state. It coordinates the activities of territorial self-governing units, legal entities and natural persons in the preparation for such measures.
