The department of the municipal authority responsible for spatial planning, heritage conservation, and the city’s spatial development concept performs the function of a spatial planning authority. In its delegated powers, it carries out state administration in the area of the preparation of spatial planning materials and spatial planning documentation, as well as building authority activities under Act No. 283/2021 Coll., the Spatial Planning and Building Code (Building Act), as amended, and in the field of heritage conservation under Act No. 20/1987 Coll., of the Czech National Council, on State Heritage Preservation, as amended. In its independent competence, it provides expert support to city bodies and other departments of the municipal authority in addressing issues related to spatial planning, urbanism, architecture, heritage conservation, and urban development, as well as in the urban and architectural preparation of investments within the city territory.
