Department responsible for:

It is a department of the City Authority responsible for ensuring activities in the field of environmental protection and creation, water management, and agriculture. Within its delegated powers, it performs state administration in the areas of nature and landscape protection, forestry, air protection, waste management, water supply and sewerage systems, water protection, agriculture, protection of agricultural land resources, hunting, fisheries, veterinary care, plant health care, animal protection against cruelty, and special waters including spa areas. It provides information in accordance with Act No. 123/1998 Coll., on the right to environmental information, as amended, within its entrusted areas.

State administration is carried out within the scope of competence of a municipality with an authorized municipal office in the administrative district, which includes the municipalities of Ostrava, Čavisov, Dolní Lhota, Horní Lhota, Klimkovice, Václavovice, Olbramice, Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí, Šenov, Velká Polom, Vřesina, and Zbyslavice.

State administration is also carried out within the scope of competence of a municipality with extended powers in the administrative district, which includes the municipalities of Ostrava, Čavisov, Dolní Lhota, Horní Lhota, Klimkovice, Václavovice, Olbramice, Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí, Šenov, Velká Polom, Vratimov, Vřesina, and Zbyslavice.

The Department of Environmental Protection notes that the agenda of administering the local fee for municipal waste (i.e. payment of the municipal waste fee, registration of payers, recording changes in fee obligations, keeping records of payments, and recovery of arrears) is handled by the Department of Finance and Budget.
