Department responsible for:

Department of Culture provides methodological and consulting activities in the field of culture, as well as information on grants, publicly funded organizations, and companies managed and established by the city.

• Prepares proposals for the city’s cultural policy across all areas of cultural and social life, and participates in organizing major cultural and social events.
• Provides advisory and consulting services in the field of culture; prepares background materials, proposals, and reports for shaping the concept of the city’s cultural and social life.
• Cooperates with state authorities, non-governmental non-profit organizations, citizens, city districts, and institutions managed by them, and provides methodological support.
• Collects and analyzes data on local culture; cooperates with bodies representing national minorities (with the exception of the Roma minority); ensures the administration of selection procedures for grants and subsidies in the field of culture.
• Provides information on major cultural events supported by the statutory city of Ostrava, as well as information on publicly funded organizations established by the statutory city of Ostrava and other companies owned by the city operating in the cultural sector.
