City Archives of Ostrava

Department responsible for:

The Archives of the City of Ostrava, an accredited archive of a territorial self-governing unit under Act No. 499/2004 Coll., on Archiving and Records Management and on Amendments to Certain Acts, as amended, is a department of the municipal authority responsible for ensuring professional archival activities within the jurisdiction of the statutory City of Ostrava.

Within its territorial and functional scope, it supervises the performance of records management at its founding authority and at the organisational units and legal entities established by it. It takes over archival records, ensures their permanent storage and comprehensive care. It also processes and makes them accessible to the public, enables their use for scientific purposes, and prepares searches, copies, and extracts from stored archival materials. It maintains the Chronicle of the City of Ostrava.
