THE CITY IS IN DISCUSSIONS WITH A POTENTIAL PARTNER FOR THE EXPANSION OF THE TECHNOLOGY PARK IN PUSTKOVEC

In its September session, the City Assembly decided on a plan to sell lands, with a total measurement of 14,397 m2, for the construction of an additional building in the T-Park. The call for bids was issued in September of the previous year, with proposals accepted until the 29th of December. “By the deadline, the city received proposals from two interested parties,” noted Hana Tichánková, Vice Mayor for Strategic Development, Urban Planning and Building Regulations. “The plots will see the construction of a new building, offering more than 24,000 m2 of total usable space, of which 17,500 m2 are designated for offices and prototype workshops. These workshops include testing rooms, technological workshops, laboratories, and similar facilities,” Tichánková added.
The overall footprint will not exceed the 6,000 m2 limit set by the tender, and given the sloping terrain, the structure will be partially submerged. “It is not possible to predict the outcome of the negotiations at this stage, but the bidder’s proposal envisages a construction period of 36 months from the property purchase. This will allow for a quick addition of multifunctional spaces, serving a wide range of T-Park clients engaged in research and innovation activities,” commented Vice Mayor Tichánková. The project will ensure a thoroughfare through the area to the Poruba Forest Park, with the construction of a publicly accessible road and parking facilities. The entire area of Pustkovec is focused on supporting commercially oriented scientific and technological research, the industrial application of research findings, product and service innovations, and business development within the city. After agreeing on specific terms, the City Assembly will decide on finalising the purchase agreement at one of its forthcoming meetings.
The City of Ostrava initiated the establishment of the Ostrava Science and Technology Park in Ostrava-Pustkovec in 1997. On this approximately 10-hectare site, the city has succeeded in creating the largest physical infrastructure for scientific and technological research, innovation, and high-tech technologies closely linked to the academic community in the Moravian-Silesian region. Presently, it includes nearly 11,000 m2 of office space, laboratories, and workshops, managed by the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava (MSIC), the 2017 successor to the Ostrava Science and Technology Park Ostrava. In addition to the existing multifunctional buildings PIANO (I), TANDEM (II), TRIDENT (III), and VIVA (IV), which host the aforementioned facilities, there are also additional development areas for knowledge-intensive economic activities with high added value.
