The meeting focuses on developing the leadership skills of young leaders and innovators, helping them to face the challenges of sustainable development and improve their communities. This is the second year of the camp, which started on the 15th of July in Prague at the Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle, attended by the President of the Republic, Petr Pavel. The following day, participants will arrive in Ostrava. The Moonshot Young Leaders Camp will be held at the National Agricultural Museum, among other venues, until 19th July, with Andrea Hoffmannová, the Deputy Mayor, serving as its ambassador. City representatives approved an extraordinary subsidy in the amount of one million crowns for this project.

"This educational event is one of many projects that Ostrava has supported within development of the talents and abilities of children and young people. The city has been working long-term and systematically on a wide range of educational activities. Ostrava is hosting the Moonshot Young Leaders Camp for the first time, and it will undoubtedly provide participants with valuable information that they can later apply in their lives, as well as offer opportunities for potential future engagement,“ stated Andrea Hoffmannová, deputy mayor for education, innovation, and digitalization.

The Moonshot Young Leaders Camp is organized by Moonshot Platform, a digital movement that seeks out talented leaders and helps accelerate solutions to the major challenges of the 21st century. Currently, this movement connects 7,000 people from 93 countries worldwide. Moonshot Platform organizes two main events: the aforementioned camp and the Moonshot Awards. The first Moonshot Young Leaders Camp took place from 10th to 14th May 2023 at the Mass MoCA and The Clark art galleries in Massachusetts. The Czech delegation was represented by Sara Polak, AI scientist and populariser, IT cybersecurity specialist Jiří Bartušek, and software engineer specializing in climate economy efficiency Marek Miltner. The camp was also attended by economist Václav Dejčmar and Czech UN ambassador and former foreign minister Jakub Kulhánek.

This year's Moonshot Young Leaders Camp will be attended by around 100 young people, 20 mentors and inspirational speakers, and 80 innovators. Talented individuals from all over the world are thus heading to Ostrava. The camp's mentors are experts in their fields across various sectors and will help participants to develop their personal and professional goals, motivating them to implement their ideas. Mentioned mentors will also speak at the Meltingpot discussion forum as part of the Colours of Ostrava festival. Attendees can look forward to discussions with titles such as "American Dream – Through the Eyes of Minorities," "Boss Mums – Women in Power," "Good Money – How Global Philanthropy Works," and more.

"The goal of the Moonshot Camp is to offer a hundred participants the opportunity to find new perspectives on solving the most complex problems of the modern world, to make new friends among themselves, and to receive support from 30 C-Suite mentors whom we are bringing to the Czech Republic for the event. I am really pleased that so many international leaders have accepted the invitation to come to Ostrava, many of whom will be visiting the Czech Republic for the first time, and I hope they will be happy to come back. We believe that Ostrava is a unique place that will help us create an unforgettable experience and a space for the growth of young innovators with the ambition to change the world,"stated Yemi A. D.

This year's mentors will be, for example, Jan Bednář, entrepreneur, investor and founder of the technology-logistics company ShipMonk, Jakub Havrlant, founder and CEO of the Rockaway Capital group, Radek Špicar, economist and vice president of the Association of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic, Alissa Hsu Lynch, member of the board of directors of the American company Honest Company, Ranji Nagaswami from the team of former NYC mayor Bloomberg, who ran his pension fund, Her Highness Radhikaraje Gaekwad of Baroda from India or Carla Pineyro Sublett, former CMO of IBM and many others.
