A unique technical lyceum to be based in Ostrava

A unique educational project "Technical and Business Academy" is being created in the Moravian-Silesian Region: a technical lyceum, a training centre for pupils and a training centre for teachers. The new secondary school will find home in the premises of VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava.

The plan is in line with the aim of maximum support for exceptionally technically gifted high school students, with the creation of the best possible conditions for study and development of their knowledge and skills.

The Moravian-Silesian Region has a great potential for the development of Industry 4.0 thanks to a combination of industrial know-how and innovative companies. Universities are also ready. The establishment of the "Technical and Business Academy" is therefore a logical part of these plans. It is important to start working with technical talent as early as in secondary school.

It is a unique project within the Czech Republic in that it directly connects secondary and higher education with innovative companies. The new secondary school could start in September 2020. Only one or two classes in each year are expected. The school will also educate teachers in fields such as industrial automation, mechatronics, industrial electronics, information technology, software development, and more. The project will also include the creation of a training centre for pupils from other secondary schools in the region.

Its partners will include the Moravian-Silesian Region, the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava. On Monday 25 March 2019, Regional Governor Ivo Vondrák, Rector of VŠB-TUO Václav Snášel and MSIC Director Pavel Csank signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on its creation.
