OSTRAVA ARÉNA
OSTRAVA ARÉNA (the former Culture and Sport Palace and ČEZ Aréna) – one of the dominant buildings in Ostrava – was finished and ceremonially opened in 1986. At the turn of 2003 and 2004, it went through major reconstruction and modernising, in 2004 was given the name ČEZ Aréna and since 1st of July 2015 has been called OSTRAVA ARÉNA. The hall is home to the HC VÍTKOVICE STEEL extra league hockey team and has become an important sports and culture centre during the time of its existence.
The modern multi function hall fulfils even the most demanding requirements of organisers and visitors. The sport and social facilities allow for the organisation of the most important events, from sport competitions to big concerts. OSTRAVA ARÉNA can be changed, according to the wishes of organisers, into 46 variations. The place can change in few hours from a modern ice ring for ice-hockey or ice revue into an ideal environment for indoor sports (two tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball court, indoor soccer field, or bicycle-polo playing field), or a concert hall using the space as an auditorium. It is also an ideal place for big fairs and company events.
The parking area beside the hall provides 886 guarded places for cars and 6 bays for buses. The adjacent areas provide dozens of places for buses. The facility is served by access roads in direction from Prague and Brno, and also to the main roads from Slovakia and Poland. There is also the four-star Clarion Congress Hotel Ostrava close by.
