The Ostrava Ball will take place at the Clarion Congress Hotel Ostrava, and it will be ceremonially opened in the main hall at 7 PM in the presence of city officials.
The venue will be open to guests one hour prior to the event. Everyone present can look forward to a rich program. In addition to the ball orchestra Proxima, the well-known regional band Kryštof will perform as the main star of the evening, along with members of the ballet and musical ensemble of the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre. Additionally, the Janáček Philharmonic Quintet, the jazz quintet SharkBites Jazz Q, and DJ Lumír Mořkovský from Radio Fresh will provide music for dancing and listening. Guests of the ball will also have the opportunity to be caricatured by the experienced duo of caricaturists Pavel Skura and Martin Hron.
"We are creating the Ostrava City Ball as a cultural and social event with a high-quality program for the general public. The charitable element is significant; guests can enjoy themselves while supporting a good cause. This way, Ostrava will establish a new tradition of social events, joining other municipalities that organize balls not just for their residents. The city knows how to host such events; last year, we commemorated the centenary of Greater Ostrava with a series of activities. People welcomed these social activities, and the feedback was positive. The Ostrava Ball is another opportunity to enjoy the city and its culture," invites the Mayor of Ostrava, Jan Dohnal.
The means to assist those in need will be the ball's raffle, the proceeds of which will benefit the Crisis Center for Children and Families, part of the Social Services Center. The city wants to thank in this way those who help people in need and difficult life situations. In the foyer, there will also be an exhibition of drawings by children, clients of this center.
According to Deputy Mayor Lucie Baránková Vilamová, the program of the ball is also designed as a showcase of Ostrava's culture, highlighting the fact that Ostrava has a rich and diverse cultural palette: "In addition to the main program featuring top regional artists and performers, visitors will be able to learn about key projects of the city of Ostrava as well as individual city districts throughout the ball. We have prepared an attractive thematic exhibition. A nice bonus is the photo corner, where anyone interested can take a photo against the backdrop of selected scenes from our city."
