Students of Ostrava secondary schools visited the Hyundai plant in Nošovice
On Monday, 8 December 2014, the last-year students of the Industrial Secondary School and Secondary School of Technology and Transport took a guided tour of the plant of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech s.r.o. (HMMC) and the company's logistic centre. This visit was facilitated by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in cooperation with the Department of Economic Development of the Ostrava City Authority.
The entire tour of Hyundai was filmed by KBS, a Korean television channel, which interviewed the students and asked them how they liked the visit to HMMC and the logistics centre and what they plan after graduation. The report will be broadcast on 1 January 2015 on KBS.
The City of Ostrava is consistently promoting cooperation between companies and schools in terms of linking theory to practice. Given the rate of unemployment in the region (around 10%), such cooperation is very important and gives the students an idea about their future careers and expands their knowledge about Korean as well as other companies.
Based in the Capital City of Prague, KOTRA's main objective is to promote trade and investment, which bring benefits to companies both in Korea, the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. KOTRA and CzechInvest have signed a memorandum on closer cooperation concerning mutual investments, which provides the Czech Republic with closer contacts with Korean investors. The agency also has a very good relationship with the Department of Economic Development of the City of Ostrava. Moravian-Silesian region is home to many Korean companies with activities in the automotive industry.
