New congress centre opened at Ostrava’s Clarion Hotel
Thursday 16 May saw the opening of the largest congress centre in North Moravia and Silesia at Ostrava’s Clarion Congress Hotel. The ceremony was attended by many VIP guests including the Deputy Mayor of Ostrava Martin Štěpánek and the Mayors of Ostrava’s Municipal Districts Vítkovice and Ostrava-Jih Petr Dlabal and Karel Sibinský.
The event was launched by representatives of CPI Hotels, which purchased the hotel (formerly the Hotel Atom) from the City of Ostrava. They presented and evaluated the recent reconstruction of the hotel, which has not only created a brand-new congress centre, but has also modernized and upgraded the rooms, restaurant and kitchens, fitness and wellness centres, and other facilities. The jewel in the hotel’s crown is the new congress centre. Covering an area of 2000 square metres, it offers a range of rooms and halls that can host up to 1600 delegates for major events. The sliding partition wall between the ‘Diamond’ and ‘Sapphire’ halls can be pulled back to create a huge auditorium with a capacity of almost a thousand people. The centre’s 11 fully air-conditioned rooms and halls are all equipped with high-tech conference facilities and can make use of the hotel’s catering service.
