Bridge Reconstruction in Rudná to Bring Traffic Restrictions

On Wednesday, January 8, 2026, the Directorate of Roads and Highways (ŘSD) will close one of the bridges on Rudná Street in the Svinov local district. The closure will also affect Polanecká Street, over which the local bridges run. Preparatory work will begin at the site ahead of the actual demolition. Motorists and, the public transport bus lines will experience traffic restrictions.

From the above date until January 22, there will be a closure of road I/11. After that date, passage will be permitted only for public transport vehicles and emergency services. Individual and freight traffic will be excluded for the entire duration of the construction. The detour will be routed via Bílovecká Street and Mannesmannova Street.

Large complications will affect the bus services of the Ostrava Public Transport Company (DPO) too. Lines number 45, 46, 59, 64, and 76 will take detours. Line 45 will be diverted along Rudná Street. Lines 46, 59, 64, and 76 will be redirected via Mannesmann Street, and part of their route on Bílovecká Street will be replaced by line X46. Disruption timetables will be posted at the affected bus stops. Lines 45, 46, 59, 64, and 76 will temporarily not serve the stops Malá Strana, Svinov School, Svinov Square, Jelínkova, and Fibichova. Only lines 37 and X46 will serve the stops on Bílovecká Street. A temporary stop for line X46 will be located on Polanecká Street at the northern side of the demolished bridge.

The reconstruction of the bridges, estimated to cost approximately 95.6 million crowns, began last November and the challenging work is expected to continue until 2026. The two bridges on the main thoroughfare, which runs through the entire regional city as road I/11, will be demolished and replaced with new structures.
